VET – Privacy Policy

👋 Overview

VET ("Verified Evaluated Truth") is developed and operated by TrevBeats Multimedia. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the VET iOS application.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. VET is designed to collect the minimum data necessary to provide its fact-checking service.

      Short version: VET does not sell your data, does not share your personal information with advertisers, and does not require you to create an account.
    

📋 Information We Collect

Content You Submit for Analysis

When you paste text, share a link, or upload an image for VET analysis, that content is transmitted to our secure backend (Firebase Cloud Functions) and processed by AI services to generate a fact-check result. This content is used only to produce your analysis and is not stored beyond the processing request.

Anonymous Usage Data

We track how many analyses you have performed in the current month using on-device storage only (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device and is used solely to enforce the free-tier usage limit.

Purchase & Subscription Data

VET Pro subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit 2. TrevBeats Multimedia never receives or stores your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID. We receive only a verified transaction confirmation from Apple to activate Pro features.

Device & Crash Data

We may collect anonymous crash reports and performance diagnostics via Apple's standard frameworks to improve app stability. This data does not include any content you have submitted for analysis.

🤖 AI Processing & Third-Party Services

VET uses the following third-party services to deliver its fact-checking capabilities:

Google Gemini / Firebase Cloud Functions — Your submitted content is sent to our Firebase backend, which calls the Gemini AI API to extract claims, cross-reference facts, and generate a truth score. Google's privacy policy applies to this processing.
Anthropic Claude API — Some analyses, particularly image and AI-detection checks, are processed via the Claude API. Anthropic's privacy policy applies.
Apple StoreKit 2 — Subscription purchases and receipt verification are handled by Apple.

      Content you submit is used solely to generate your requested analysis. It is not used to train AI models, not sold to third parties, and not linked to your identity.
    

📱 How We Use Your Information

To analyze the content you submit and return a fact-check result
To enforce the free-tier monthly usage limit (stored on-device only)
To verify your VET Pro subscription status via Apple
To improve app performance and fix crashes

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond providing the VET service.

💾 Data Storage & Retention

On-Device History: Your analysis history (the "History" tab) is stored locally on your device using UserDefaults. It is never uploaded to our servers. You can clear it at any time by deleting and reinstalling the app.

Server-Side: Content submitted for analysis is not persistently stored on our servers after the analysis is complete. Firebase Cloud Functions process requests in memory and do not write your content to a database.

Images: Images you submit for AI-detection analysis are resized, converted to Base64, and transmitted securely for analysis. They are not stored on our servers after the response is returned.

🔒 Data Security

All communications between the VET app and our backend are encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Our Firebase Cloud Functions require a valid app secret header and are not publicly accessible. We follow industry best practices to protect your data in transit.

👶 Children's Privacy

VET is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through VET, please contact us and we will take prompt action.

⚖️ Your Rights (CCPA / GDPR)

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

Right to Know: What data we collect and how it is used
Right to Delete: Request deletion of any data associated with your use
Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell data, so no opt-out is required
Right to Non-Discrimination: Exercising your rights will not affect your access to VET

🔄 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of VET after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we will provide an in-app notice.
